- Amazing Scavenger Hunt Adventure – Minneapolis
Where: Start Location – US Bank Stadium
When: Ongoing until October 31, 2017This fun event will have you and your team going around Minneapolis gems looking for clues and performing challenges, Amazing Race style.
Along the way, you’ll get to learn and test your knowledge about the city’s rich history. Sign up on the event’s website to join. - Minnesota State Fair
Where: Minnesota State Fairgrounds
When: August 24 to September 4, 2017One of the most anticipated events in the state since 1859! This year’s state fair boasts a stellar concert series line up, including Stevie Nicks, Usher and John Mellencamp. Expect plenty of new foods and new attractions, and try your luck in the exciting annual contests and competitions.
- Current exhibits at the American Swedish Institute
When: Ongoing until October 29, 2017There are currently three new exhibits at the institute’s historic Turnblad Mansion location:
- Still Life: Karin Broos Exhibition – Features large scale paintings by Swedish artist Karin Broos
- Cows Can Dream – Family Gallery Exhibit – A 3D installation and immersive play environment created by Swedish visual artist Maria
- Tilling the Past – Photographs by Hilma Ljung – Features contemporary prints developed from the original film by Hilma Ljung, showcasing the photographers’ life on a farm in the Swedish town of Svalov from 1908 to 1922
- Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon
Where: Minneapolis to St. Paul
When: October 1, 2017This annual event is the culmination of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend, dubbed “the largest sporting event in the Upper Midwest.” Participants get freebies and free coaching from the pros, as well as post-race food and beer. The weekend sportsfest starts on September 30, 2017, and includes other activities like a Health & Fitness Expo, 5K, 10K, and 10 Mile runs, and family events.
- Zombie Pub Crawl
Where: Meets at the Warehouse District of Minneapolis
When: October 14, 2017First held in 2005, this wildly popular event has been certified the “World’s Largest Gathering of Zombies” by the Guinness Book of World Records. Participants, who are encouraged to come in zombie costumes, gather at the Warehouse District, from where they proceed to participating bars. Food trucks, live music, and World Brain Eating contests are also part of the event.
- University of Minnesota School of Music Presents the 56th Annual Marching Band Indoor Concert
Where: Northrop Carlson Family State
When: November 18 & November 19, 2017The Pride of Minnesota will be performing halftime favorites and other routines, celebrating UofM’s spirit, colors and tradition.
- The Abominables (Children’s Theatre Company production)
Where: United Health Group Stage
When: September 12 to October 15, 2017The Children’s Theatre Company has been called “The number one children’s theatre in the nation” by Time Magazine. The Abominables is a world premiere presented by the company in association with The Civilians, a New York-based theatre group. The Abominables is an original production developed by Threshold, The Children Theatre Company’s new play development lab, and was inspired by interviews with families and students in Minnesota.
